JOB PURPOSE: 

To work as a member of an emergency special arrangement team to create
a safe and caring environment which meets the individual needs of the
children who live there. To provide short term placement for
children/young people. Residential Social Care Workers must practice
in accordance with relevant childcare legislation, national standards
and Laragh Family Support Services Policies and Procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide a safe, home-like environment for the young people who
reside in the unit in line with National Standards, Laragh Family
Support Services Policies and Procedures and best practices governing
the provision of care.
* Take the lead on shift with Social Care Workers, and to ensure
that staff whom you are on duty carry out allocated tasks in a
competent and professional manner, ensuring that tasks are not passed
onto the next person on duty.
* Advise Social Care Workers on duty with you in relation to best
practice and approach in all aspects of their duties and role.
* Report to the Social Care Manager of any issues or incidents which
have arisen in the course of the shift.
* Ensure that the house is maintained in a safe, clean and
well-maintained way.
* Report all damages or maintenance required to the Social Care
Manager.
* To deicide if it is necessary to contact on-call outside of office
hours.
* Partake in management on-call for the centre.
* Ensure that each child or young person receives the highest
quality of care and intervention where possible.
* Ensure the rights of the child or young person’s rights are
upheld and respected within the unit.
* To case manage or act as a keyworker for a child or young person.
* To ensure that placement plans are on file and being implemented.
* To liaise with the young person’s Social Worker, family and
relevant professionals in relation to the placement of the young
person.
* To prepare reports for child in care reviews etc and attend if
necessary.
* Provide supervision for Social Care Workers as agreed with Social
Care Manager.
* Oversee staff induction, students on placement and/or volunteers.
* Ensure all records relation to the young people have been
completed by the team prior to finishing shift.
* Ensure all relevant documents and records are completed and filed
as appropriate.
* Ensure that receipts for any money spent are returned at the end
of the shift and petty cash is balanced.
* Ensure that sufficient funds are available for day-to-day costs,
activities for the young people.
* Participate in supervision, appraisals, and trainings.

WORKING HOURS: 

Include evening & weekend work as well as unsociable hours will be
part of the job, including waking night and/or sleepover duties. This

REQUIREMENTS:

Full clean drivers licence, access to car, three written references,
proof of relevant qualification and a minimum two years in relevant
role.
